Mælifell

A near-perfect volcanic cone rising from the edge of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, Mælifell is entirely carpeted in vivid green moss that intensifies to an almost surreal brightness against the surrounding black volcanic sand. The mountain's perfect geometry and otherworldly colour make it one of the most photographed volcanoes in Iceland's southern highlands.
