Snæfell

Not to be confused with the glacier volcano Snæfellsjökull — Snæfell is Iceland's highest free-standing mountain at 1,833 metres, rising in solitary magnificence above the East Highland plateau near Egilsstaðir. Its glacier-capped summit is visible from vast distances across the surrounding moorland and catches the first light of dawn long before it reaches the valley floor below.
