Hólmatindur

The rugged ridgeline of Hólmatindur commands the head of Eskifjörður fjord in the East Fjords, its heavily eroded basaltic faces dropping steeply to the water below. The mountain rises from some of Iceland's oldest exposed bedrock — the East Fjords solidified from the sea floor millions of years before the central highlands began to form.
