Geysir

The original geyser — so distinctive it gave its name to all hot spring fountains on earth. Geysir itself no longer erupts reliably, but its neighbour Strokkur shoots a column of boiling water up to 40 metres every few minutes, a reminder of the extraordinary volcanic energy beneath Iceland's surface.
