Dyrfjöll

The jagged peaks of Dyrfjöll — Door Mountains — rise above the East Fjords in a dramatic line of ancient basalt, their cathedral spires among the most striking silhouettes in eastern Iceland. The name comes from the natural gap carved by glaciers between the summits, a doorway of stone visible from the valley floor.
